In September of last year, 51-year-old Mo Kim was handed over to trial for stealing 17 million won by deceiving an acquaintance into making money.

Yesterday (13th), he was sentenced to six months in prison for fraud at the Daejeon District Court, but he fled in the process of detention.

He disappeared in the elevator while the court inspector was away from the waiting room for the detained defendant to process documents.

After that, he moved to the prosecutor's office through the escort passage on the first basement floor and fled.

The court requested cooperation from the police only at 6:30 pm, three and a half hours after Kim fled.

A court official said that it was impossible to move without an access card, so it was judged that the defendant had hidden inside the court, and that there was a delay in going through CCTV checks, etc.

Kim has been sentenced to fines or imprisonment three times since 2002 for fraud, and for this reason, it is assumed that he is familiar with the structure of the court building, but there are many pointed out that the court's poor supervision of the accused is a problem.

The police are dispatching detectives to Kim's neighbourhood, while conducting interrogation investigations into acquaintances, but they are having difficulties in early arrest as the request for cooperation is delayed.
