In response to the recent surge in outdoor bee sting accidents, the Fire Department has upgraded the bee sting advisory to an alert.

According to the Busan Fire Department, an average of 80 bee sting accidents occurred nationwide from the 1st to the 5th.

This is more than double the average number of dispatches per day last month of 40.

Wasps are most active from summer to early autumn, so you need to be careful when you are outdoors, especially during the long holiday period, which starts today and lasts for five days.

Among the wasps, the black wasp threatens the safety of citizens by building houses on street trees or apartment roofs in the city.

Therefore, the fire department emphasized that when you are outdoors, you should first check for beehives around you.

First of all, when you find a beehive, you should lower your posture and move to another place slowly.

If you touch the hive, wrap your head around it and quickly move away from the hive by at least 20 meters.

When outdoors, avoid using strong-scented cosmetics or sprays and wear long-sleeved tops and bottoms, the fire department advises.

Also, in the case of wasps, it is best to avoid clothes such as black as they show the greatest aggression in dark colors.

Since 79% of deaths due to bee venom occur within one hour after a bee sting, if you are stung by a bee, call 911 as soon as possible and seek medical treatment.
