2,087 new cases of COVID-19 were added yesterday.

This is the highest number ever for new patients on Friday.

Excluding 40 imported cases, 2,047 cases were domestic infections, and 1,510 cases, over 70%, were found in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon alone.

As the Chuseok holiday begins in earnest from today, quarantine authorities are concerned that the epidemic situation in the metropolitan area may spread to non-metropolitan areas.

It is said that the pandemic that started in the metropolitan area during the vacation season last summer and spread to the whole country can be reproduced.

[Lee Ki-il/Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters 1st Controller (Yesterday): Looking at last August, many patients from Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon went to the provinces and came back while many patients came back. This Chuseok may be the same case.] The

government said this holiday is a major turning point, and has urged people to refrain from moving or gatherings if possible and to undergo a preemptive test.

The government has achieved the target of 70% of the primary vaccination rate before Chuseok, and plans to raise the vaccination rate to 80% by increasing incentives for vaccination.

Those over the age of 18 who have not yet made a reservation for vaccination can make a reservation again through the advance reservation website from 8pm tonight.

Vaccinations will be made from Pfizer or Moderna vaccines from the beginning of next month.
