A woman in her 50s, who hit and killed a woman in her 20s while crossing a crosswalk, shouted "I had no luck" at the scene of the accident.

At the first trial of the 53-year-old A's appeal, which was held yesterday (15th) as part of the Chuncheon District Court's Criminal Division 1 (Chief Judge Kim Cheong-mi), A's side said, "The three-year prison sentence sentenced by the original court is heavy and unfair."

Person A was handed over to trial on December 21, 2020 at around 7:40 pm in Geunhwa-dong, Chuncheon-si, driving a Starex van without a license, and charged with killing a 20-year-old man B who was crossing a crossing.

In the impact of the accident, Mr. B flew about 27m and was taken to the hospital, but eventually died.

When the police were dispatched to the scene of the accident, Mr. A was sitting on the floor and shouting, "Oh, no luck. No luck."

As a result of the investigation, it was revealed that Mr. A had taken drugs six days before the accident. It was also revealed that Mr. A had 8 drug convictions and had already been punished 3 times for driving without a license.

Prosecutors said, "At the time of the accident, Mr. A was in a state where it was difficult to drive normally due to drugs," and requested 12 years in prison for dangerous driving.

However, the court of first instance judged the crime of dangerous driving acquittal, citing that the effect of methamphetamine usually lasts for about 8 to 24 hours, and sentenced him to three years in prison by applying the homicide under the Traffic Accident Handling Act.

At the appeals trial, while Mr. A said, "The sentence of the original trial is heavy and unfair," the prosecution said that it would submit a detailed opinion of the investigative prosecutor and additional evidence to prove the crime of dangerous driving. The court decided to hold a continuation hearing on the 13th of next month for this purpose.
