Singer Wheesung (real name Choi Hwiseong), who was charged with habitual use of propofol, a sleep anesthetic, was also sentenced to prison in the appeals court.



At the first trial of Wheesung's appeal, which was held today (8th) at the Daegu District Court's Criminal Case Division 5 (Chief Judge Kim Seong-yeol), the prosecution requested three years in prison as in the first trial.



At the trial, Wheesung said, "I admit my mistake and feel ashamed, and I have been receiving treatment for insomnia, panic disorder, and depression for over a year and seven months."



Wheesung was sentenced to 1 year in prison, 2 years of probation, 40 hours of community service, and 40 hours of drug treatment lectures in the first trial at the Andong Branch of the Daegu District Court.



Only the prosecution appealed, saying the sentence of the first trial was too light.



In 2019, Wheesung bought about 670 ml of propofol at 10 million won to Mr. A, who saw an internet advertisement in front of a hotel in Songpa-gu, Seoul, and sold 3,910 ml for 60.5 million won 12 times by the end of November of the same year. He was brought to trial on a charge of bribery.



He was found to have administered the purchased propofol about 10 times at hotels and other places.



Earlier, the court of first instance said, "Due to the nature of my job, I had to continue to be loved by the public, and I felt a lot of pressure and pressure that every action could be criticized by the public. , reflecting on his wrongdoings, etc.”



The appeal hearing against Wheesung will be held on the morning of the 13th of next month.
