The police concluded today (7th) that "there is insufficient evidence" and "no charges" on the charges of forcing Gyeonggi Governor Lee Jae-myung to pay money for Seongnam FC advertising expenses from various companies when he was the mayor of Seongnam and the owner of Seongnam FC, a professional football club. got off

It has been three years and three months since the prosecution along with the so-called brother-in-law forced hospitalization case ahead of the Gyeonggi governor election.

The Gyeonggi Bundang Police Station announced today that the branch, which had been investigating for bribery to a third party, was dismissed with no charges.

During his time as mayor of Seongnam, the governor has been investigated by the police on charges of having several companies, including Doosan and Naver, pay 16 billion won in advertising expenses to Seongnam FC, where he is the owner.

He was accused of these charges by the Bareunmirae Party in June 2018, ahead of the Gyeonggi governor election.

The Bareunmirae Party said, “Seongnam FC received money from six companies in the jurisdiction including Doosan Construction (4.2 billion won), Naver (4 billion won), Nonghyup (3.6 billion won), and Bundang CHA Hospital (3.3 billion won) through advertising expenses. After the war, the hospital site in Jeongja-dong, Bundang, which was left unattended by Doosan, was repurposed to be able to build an office building, and Naver received a building permit for the second office building, and it is worth paying for.”

At that time, the Bareunmirae Party also filed a complaint against the so-called brother-in-law forcibly hospitalized and exaggerated development achievements in Daejang-dong.

The police have dealt with the rest of the cases, such as the forced hospitalization of the older brother related to the alleged violation of the Public Official Election Act, which has a statute of limitations of only six months, and postponed the handling of allegations related to Seongnam FC.

However, in October of last year, the governor was acquitted on charges of violating the election law, and the police began investigating the Seongnam FC case in earnest.

The governor has denied the allegations ever since the incident first surfaced, and in April last year, at the signing ceremony of the business agreement between Gyeonggi Province and five provincial professional soccer teams, he said, "When I was the owner of Seongnam FC, I advertised a lot of sponsored advertisements for local companies. He has been under investigation as a suspect for several years because he received it, and it is very pathetic."

A police official said, "After comprehensively reviewing the written questionnaire and the matters investigated so far, we have decided not to appeal." I couldn't find it," he said.
