Chungnam Province and Hongseong-gun appointed Baekgu, who had been protecting the recently missing grandmother, as the No.

They were also given the rank of firefighter.

Baekgu, who became an honorary rescue dog, is a puppy raised by Kim (93) grandmother who lives in Songchon Village, Seobu-myeon, Hongseong.

Baek Gu was there when his grandmother was found missing for two days last month.

The grandmother left the house between 0 AM and 2 AM on the 25th of last month, and while walking in the rain, the grandmother collapsed in the water on the paddy field, her body temperature dropped, and the thermal imaging camera of the police search drone did not detect the vital signs properly.

However, Baekgu's high body temperature was displayed in a dark color on the thermal imaging camera and could be recognized at a glance.

Thanks to this, the grandmother was found around 3 pm on the 26th and was able to return to her family safely.

After receiving treatment at the hospital, the grandmother is now in good health.

Kim Seok-hwan, the mayor of Hongseong County, said, "In our hometown of Hongseong, there is a place called 'Gaebangjuk', where the legend of a righteous dog who died after saving the owner who was sleeping when a fire broke out in a field is handed down. I am very thrilled,” he said.
