Today (2nd) around 8:15 am, the railing of a commercial building under construction near the apartment reconstruction site in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul collapsed and hit the children's commute.

The place where the railing hit was a children's protection area that was only 300 meters away from a nearby elementary school.

It collapsed during school hours, but luckily there were no casualties because it caught on the railing of the construction site opposite.

A ward office official said, "At the remodeling site of a shopping mall, I accidentally touched the screen and the railing seems to have collapsed."

The police and the ward office are controlling access to the site and are carrying out restoration work.

A nearby resident said, "It's a school road for children and there is usually a lot of vehicle access." He said, "I was always anxious because both sides of the school road were under construction, but there were no detour signs or facilities to prevent falling objects."

An official from the ward office said that they plan to determine the exact cause of the accident after the restoration work is completed.
