1,793 confirmed cases yesterday, 1,738 were infected in Korea, excluding 55 cases imported from abroad.

By region, 1,182 people were infected in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon alone.

There were 556 confirmed cases in non-metropolitan areas, including 76 in Daegu and 75 in Busan.

The total number of confirmed cases has decreased by 84 compared to last Saturday, a week ago, but the number of severe cases remains at 400, the highest since the fourth epidemic, and the number of deaths during treatment is also increasing to 11.

Vaccination against COVID-19 is accelerating, with about 590,000 people receiving the first dose a day yesterday, and about 540,000 people completing the second dose.

Compared to the population, the primary vaccination rate is 55.2%, and the completion rate of vaccination is 27.9%.

The quarantine authorities believe that the fourth epidemic can be stabilized to some extent by suppressing the spread of the epidemic as much as possible and speeding up vaccinations by the coming Chuseok holiday.

In this case, measures to ease some of the quarantine guidelines during the Chuseok holiday are also being considered.

There is a possibility that only those who have been vaccinated will be excluded from the limited number of people who have been vaccinated only for immediate family gatherings, or face-to-face visits to nursing homes may be allowed during the Chuseok holiday.

The quarantine authorities plan to announce the quarantine measures for Chuseok after examining the epidemic situation by early next week.
