378 locals and their families who have helped our government in Afghanistan arrived safely in Korea today (26th).

I was tested for Corona right away and I am now waiting for the results in a temporary dormitory.

If you test negative, you will be moved to the Human Resources Development Center in Jincheon, North Chungcheong Province, and will stay there for a while.

Today's first news, reporter Son Hyung-an.

Our military transport plane carrying 378 Afghans who have chosen to go to Korea to escape the threat of the Taliban will land safely at Incheon International Airport around 4:30 pm today.

At around 4:53 a.m. our time, we arrived in Korea, the land of freedom, 12 hours after we left Islamabad Airport, Pakistan, our stopover.

These are professional workers and their families who have provided interpretation and medical services at our local institution.

Initially, 391 people gathered at Islamabad Airport, but 378 of them boarded a flight to Korea first.

About half were children under the age of 10, including three babies less than a month old.

[Choi Jong-moon / 2nd Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs: According to the report of the local embassy before departing from Islamabad, (among the entrants) there are those newborn babies who are only one month old. We know that there are no major health problems.]

Afghan families, holding a large suitcase in one hand and a small child in the other, were tested for COVID-19 immediately upon arrival at the airport.

As the welcome applause erupted upon seeing them, some Afghan entrants waved their hands, feeling relieved.

Immediately after completing the corona test, the prepared bus moves to a temporary living facility in Gimpo and waits for the test result.

If you test negative, you will be transferred back to the National Civil Service Human Resources Development Center in Jincheon, Chungcheongbuk-do, where you will stay for a while.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that 13 of the three family members who have not yet set foot on Korean soil among those subject to entry will enter the country on another South Korean military transport plane.
