"We have been betrayed," the commander of the Afghan government forces overthrown by the Islamic militant group Taliban told The New York Times on the 25th (local time).

"I'm tired, frustrated and angry," said Sami Sadat, who introduced himself as a three-star general who commanded an army unit in the southern Afghan province of Helmand and was appointed commander of the special forces shortly before the fall of Kabul.

In particular, US President Joe Biden strongly refuted the passage in his recent speech, which said, "The US military cannot and should not die in a war in which even Afghan forces are not willing to fight for themselves."

"It is true that the Afghan army has lost the will to fight," Sadat said.

He argued that the Afghan army deserved to be criticized for its filial piety and bureaucracy.

"The political split between Kabul and Washington has strangled the Afghan army," Sadat added.

General Sadat said, "There are three reasons why the Afghan army collapsed"He cited ▲ the peace agreement of former U.S. President Donald Trump ▲ the suspension of logistics and maintenance support ▲ the widespread corruption of the Afghan government.

It is argued that the Taliban, which had not achieved much victory until then, was able to be revived as a knight, as the withdrawal of US troops was made a reality due to the agreement between the United States and the Taliban signed in Doha in February last year.

"We kept fighting, but everything started going downhill when President Biden confirmed in April that he would stick to Trump's plan," he said.

In addition, as the military companies withdrew first, they were unable to receive technical support, and these companies took away the software, making it impossible to use advanced weapons properly, Sadat said.

"We have been betrayed by our politics and our presidents," Sadat said, "The war in Afghanistan is an international war. One army alone cannot accomplish its mission."
