A man in his 20s who made a false report to the police eight times saying that a murder had occurred has been arrested by the police.

The Seoul Gwanak Police Station announced today (19th) that they are investigating Kim, a 23-year-old man, without detention on charges of obstructing the execution of official duties by hierarchical means.

At around 9:40 pm on the 17th, Mr. Kim reported to the police in an urgent voice, saying, "There was a murder case during a fight, please come quickly."

The police determined that it was an emergency and issued Code Zero, the highest level of response.

During Code Zero, the maximum number of personnel available from the local police and nearby police stations was mobilized, and many police officers were dispatched wearing body protection equipment such as sword-proof suits.

Mr. Kim also called 112 again to report the situation, saying, "I almost got stabbed", but it all turned out to be false.

The police arrested Kim as a current criminal, who made a false report a total of eight times.

During the investigation, Kim said, "I had an argument with the manager at the place where I live, and the policeman came and did not listen to me properly."

It is said that Mr. Kim was drunk and kicked the elevator door in his residence, and there was a dispute over it.

A police official said, "As the result of wasting public power, we arrested the current criminal."
