[Away, away! Glass shards fell!]

At about 1:40 a.m. today, an unexplained fire broke out in an apartment in Mia-dong, Gangbuk-gu, Seoul.

Four members of the family, including A in their 60s and Ms. B, 9 years old, living on the 13th floor, where the fire started, were taken to the hospital, but eventually died, and C in their 40s, who was in the house with them, was seriously injured.

In addition, 20 residents were evacuated in an emergency, and 10 people inhaled smoke.

The fire department put out the fire within an hour and a half after receiving the report by putting in about 100 personnel and 30 equipment.

It's been a while since the lights went out, but the site cleanup work continues here.

The police entered the forensics area while controlling the area around the scene.

[Yoon Seong-ja / Witness: The fire just started rising, so the baby did CPR earlier and went to two people (to the hospital)… Many people were brought in.]

[Choi Yeon-woong / Gangbuk Fire Station Administrative Division Manager: As an old apartment, the actual sprinklers are on the 16th floor. (On the 13th floor) there was no sprinkler.]

The fire department is investigating the exact cause of the fire based on Mr. C's statement that "the fire started from the front door."
