Chinanews.com, August 13th. According to the Ministry of Commerce website, from January to July this year, automobile consumption generally maintained a stable and positive trend.

The transaction volume of second-hand vehicles and the recycling volume of scrapped motor vehicles increased significantly; the sales volume of new energy vehicles hit a record high.

Affected by factors such as the low-to-high base number and the shortage of automotive chips in the same period last year, new car sales growth has been under pressure since May, and it has gradually spread to retail terminals.

The automobile consumer market mainly presents the following characteristics:

First, the growth rate of new car sales of manufacturers has slowed down.

From January to July, the production company sold 14.756 million new vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 19.3% and a year-on-year increase of 4.4%.

In July, sales of 1.864 million vehicles were down 11.9% year-on-year, and this was the third month of negative growth since May.

Second, the growth of new car sales in retail terminals is under pressure.

From January to July, the retail sales of new vehicles were 15.488 million units, a year-on-year increase of 25.9% and a year-on-year increase of 4.0%.

In July, the sales volume was 1.991 million vehicles, a year-on-year decrease of 3.9%. This year, the first negative growth occurred, but the rate of decrease was significantly smaller than the rate of decline in the sales of new vehicles of manufacturers.

Third, the sales of new energy vehicles have exceeded the level of 2020 for the whole year.

From January to July, the sales volume of new energy vehicles by manufacturers was 1.478 million, a year-on-year increase of 2 times, exceeding the full-year level of 2020, doubled from the same period in 2019, and accounting for 10% of new vehicle sales.

In July, sales of 271,000 vehicles, an increase of 1.6 times year-on-year, refreshed a single-month historical record.

Fourth, the transaction volume of second-hand cars has risen sharply.

From January to July, the transaction volume of used cars was 9.893 million, a year-on-year increase of 46.0% and a year-on-year increase of 22.5%.

In July, the transaction volume of second-hand cars was 1.459 million, a year-on-year increase of 15.7%; the ratio between the transaction volume of second-hand cars and new cars reached 0.78, continuing to record highs.

Fifth, the obsolete motor vehicles will be scrapped and eliminated at an accelerated pace.

As of the end of July, the number of recycling and dismantling enterprises nationwide reached 873, an increase of 98 from the end of 2020.

From January to July, 1.567 million scrapped motor vehicles were recycled, a year-on-year increase of 37.8% and a year-on-year increase of 23.5%.

In July, 262,000 vehicles were recycled, a year-on-year increase of 22.3%.
