The spread of COVID-19 is getting stronger as the 4th pandemic of COVID-19 has been going on for over a month.

According to the Central Defense Countermeasures Headquarters, as of 00:00 yesterday (12th), there were 1,987 new confirmed cases of Corona 19 in Korea.

The number of confirmed cases dropped by 235 from the 2,222 the previous day, and fell below 2,000.

The number of new confirmed cases to be announced as of 00:00 today is also expected to be similar to yesterday or slightly increase.

A total of 1,851 new confirmed cases were counted from 0 am to 9 pm yesterday by the quarantine authorities and each local government including the Seoul Metropolitan Government, 18 more than the 1,833 at the same time the previous day.

Considering the recent trend of the number of confirmed cases at night, it is expected to reach around 2,000, or at most, the early 2,000.

The number of confirmed cases per day has been in the four digits for 37 consecutive days since the 7th of last month, and today is the 38th day.

As the momentum of the 4th pandemic did not subside despite intensive 'social distancing' and restrictions on private gatherings, the government began reviewing additional quarantine measures.

“Even if the current level of social distancing is maintained, there is a possibility that the number of confirmed cases will increase,” said Bae Dae-taek, head of the situation management team, Bang Dae-bon.

However, the government indicated that it is not considering a plan to manage the quarantine situation by using the number of severe cases and deaths as the main indicators instead of the number of new confirmed cases.

Son Young-rae, head of the social strategy division at the Central Accident Resolving Headquarters, said, "This is to change the 'paradigm', but discussions are not going on to this level."

In the midst of this, the government has urged people to refrain from traveling and traveling during the three-day Liberation Day holiday starting this weekend.
