It's called a 'romance scam'.



Foreigners who robbed money after approaching them on social media impersonating the US military and saying they wanted to have a special relationship were arrested.



Gyeonggi Paju Police Station announced that they had arrested two men, a Nigerian man in his 20s and a Cameroonian in his 30s, on charges of fraud.



They approached the victims by impersonating plausible jobs such as dispatched U.S. troops or UN doctors on social media.



In the process, they stole photos of foreign men and women with excellent looks, drawing attention.



At first, they only had a normal conversation, but when the intimacy increased, they pretended to be lovers and demanded money with words such as 'Let's live together in Korea' and 'I'll send a gift by courier, so please send me the delivery fee'.



He is accused of extorting 150 million won from all five victims from April to June.



A police official said that most foreigners who do not know apply for friends through SNS are for the purpose of romance scams and should be suspicious.
