Scientists will conduct research in the Arctic as part of a marine expedition

During the month, 18 researchers and 33 future oceanologists will work in the Kara Sea.

The results of the expedition will help predict climate change.

“We have been waiting for this for a very long time, and the two days of delay were very exciting.

This is the first such long trip for us, and we are already excited, ”- says the expedition participant Tatyana Evenkova.

“Akademik Ioffe” was supposed to go to sea a few days ago, but arrived at the port with a delay due to unforeseen circumstances. 

The start of the expedition of the Floating University of the Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) to the Arctic aboard the research vessel "Akademik Ioffe" was originally planned for August 6.

One of the main tasks will be to study global warming and analyze the spread of plastic pollution in the Arctic.
