Mallorca International Tomato Contest

chooses the best tomato on the island.

commented tasting

, which is the best of these fruits, protagonists of countless of

summer recipes.

On this occasion, the chosen place has been the

Botànic

de Palma

restaurant

, a national benchmark in

vegetable cuisine

, where the jury has analyzed a selection of

variety

tomatoes

, such as the ramallet tomato, the rose tomato, the cor de bou, the cherry , the muchohiel, the raff and the salad.

The winners

of this edition have been the Ramallet mateta secano from Finca Son Juan Jaume, in Manacor, and the Rosa from Finca Can Xalet, from Santa Eugenia.

And what are the characteristics that have been valued in this tasting / contest?

Texture, flavor, acid point

, thickness of the skin and the smoothness of its meat, among other aspects.

To do this, the tomatoes have been cut into wedges and slices and have been tasted

natural and also seasoned

with Aubocassa oils and Flor d'Es Trenc salts.
