It has been confirmed that 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province are discussing a universal payment to the remaining 12% while the government has decided to selectively pay the 5th disaster subsidy to the bottom 88% of income earners.

The Gyeonggi-do Mayors and County Heads Council announced today (1st) that it is coordinating its position with the front-line cities and counties on the plan to universally provide the 5th disaster subsidy to all residents.

Osan Mayor Kwak Sang-wook, chairman of the council, said, "Most of the heads of local governments in the province agree to the universal payment of the 5th subsidy.

"After coordinating the position with the mayor and county heads, we plan to make an official suggestion to Gyeonggi Province," he added.

Earlier last month, the mayors of five cities, including Goyang, Paju, Guri, Gwangmyeong, and Anseong, issued a joint statement, and proposed to Gyeonggi Province that the remaining 12% of residents excluded from the government subsidy should be universally paid by themselves by sharing half of the city and city expenses. I have a bar.

As a result of understanding through the heads of local governments in the province, 17 cities and counties, excluding four large cities with heavy budgetary burdens, agree to the universal payment of the 5th subsidy, and the majority of them are in the position that the ratio of provincial to city/gun expenses should be 7 to 3. appeared.

Some municipalities with small fiscal scales are said to be demanding an 8 to 2 share ratio.

Regarding this, spokesperson Kim Hong-guk of Gyeonggi-do said, "Some mayors and governors are giving these suggestions through meetings with Governor Lee Jae-myung, SNS chat rooms, and press conferences."

However, he said, "There are places that are actively proposing, others are passive, and there are places that do not propose. It is necessary to carefully examine these parts as there are other factors.”

Accordingly, if all 31 cities and counties in the province raise one voice in the payment of disaster subsidies to all residents, and if the share ratio between provinces and cities and counties is smoothly adjusted in consideration of the financial conditions of each local government, the universal payment of disaster subsidies to all residents of Gyeonggi-do will rapidly increase. is expected to be highly probable.
