A 30-year-old man who killed his father, who was usually nagging about his job, with a knife, has been sentenced to a heavy sentence.

The 11th Criminal Division of the Ulsan District Court (Judge Park Hyeon-bae) announced today (27th) that he sentenced 31-year-old A, who was charged with murdering an ascendant, to 15 years in prison.

A was charged with stabbing and killing his father with a knife at his home in Dong-gu, Ulsan, in January.

Mr. A, who had frequent quarrels with his father over employment issues, became angry and hid the things his father loved when he heard profanity and swearing on the day of the incident.

When his father got angry again and threatened to hit him, it was investigated that Mr. A drank alcohol and committed the crime, then reported himself to the police.

During the trial, he appealed for leniency, saying, "I was in a state of weakness due to delusional disorder," but the court did not accept it.

The court said, "The fact that Mr. A's overall intelligence was measured at the level of 'mild intellectual disability' with an IQ of 64 is acknowledged. However, it was found that his ability to adapt to society was better than his level of intelligence in mental emotions, and unrealistic thoughts such as delusions I didn't see it."

He explained, "Combining the fact that there are no typos in the text sent just before the crime, the context is natural, and that he reported the crime to the police himself, we cannot accept the defendant's claim that he was mentally and physically weak."

The court said, "The crime of stabbing and killing the victim who gave birth to and raised him is an anti-social and anti-humanity crime that is unacceptable for any reason." We considered the crime and the fact that the victim's mother and brother, who are survivors of the victim, appealed for mercy," he said.
