A gang of game accounts worth 1.8 billion won was caught by the police by tricking them into buying an online game account.
The Incheon West Police Station announced that they had arrested two people, including a 32-year-old man, on charges of fraud and other charges, and booked eight people without detention.
They are accused of hijacking online game accounts worth 1.8 billion won from 70 victims from January to recently.
Police investigation revealed that they approached the game account seller and deceived the victims with a false 'deposit completed' text without actually making a deposit to hijack the account.
The police took back some of these accounts and returned 530 million won worth of accounts and game money to 17 victims, while investigating other crimes.
