The next installment of Pro Evolution Soccer, otherwise known as PES, will be renamed.

It will therefore not be a PES 2022 which will be released next fall but eFootball, announced this Wednesday, July 21 Konami, the studio that has propelled the franchise to the rank of the most famous video games.

But it's not just for the Japanese studio to change the name of the football simulation game.

The economic model will also evolve.

As of this version 2022, the game will be available online for free.

Neymar has been chosen to be the ambassador of this "free-to-play" which will allow players to evolve with nine teams at the start, reports the

Pay to evolve the game

To evolve further in the game and get other teams, it will be necessary to spend euros.

There will no longer be a new game every year but regular updates.

Konami promises "graphics, gameplay and animation that mark the start of a new era for virtual football."

Initiated in 1995, PES was the football game of choice for a long time before FIFA took over.

Since 2010, the EA Sports franchise has been widely acclaimed.

The release of eFootball is a start from Konami who hopes to revive.
