A woman in her 20s who assaulted a 27-month-old girl in a stroller for no apparent reason has been arrested by the police.

The Incheon West Police Station announced today (19th) that they had booked a 20-year-old man without detention on charges of assault.

A is accused of assaulting the face of 27-month-old B, who was riding in a stroller, once with a paper bag at an apartment complex in Seo-gu, Incheon at around 2:40 pm on the 12th.

It was understood that he committed the crime by suddenly screaming for no apparent reason while moving into the complex through the side door of the apartment complex at the time.

A is not familiar with B's family.

If you look at the CCTV footage of Mr. A's crime at the time, Mrs. B's mother was holding her 4-month-old son in a baby carrier while riding her in a stroller combined with a bicycle.

A's mother requested leniency from the police saying, "There are times when my daughter (A) has an intellectual disability and can't control her anger."

Mr. A did not properly state his motive for the crime.

Ms. B's father said in a media call, "Since that day, my daughter is suffering from trauma, such as not being able to sleep properly due to the shock." "My wife is also afraid and can't go out."

He continued, "If Mr. A has a mental illness, his guardian is responsible for not performing necessary roles such as administrative hospitalization."

A police official said, "If Ms. B's parents receive a medical certificate saying that their daughter was injured as a result of Mr. A's crime, we plan to review whether or not to apply the charge of injury to Mr. A."
