In April,

Super Mario Bros.

once again became the most expensive video game in history since a copy had sold for $ 660,000 during an auction organized by the House Heritage Auction.

This record only lasted three months since a particularly unusual copy of

The Legend of Zelda

has just caused a sensation.

Earlier in the week, a new Heritage Auction sold a very rare version of Nintendo's title.

An American copy, sealed and in excellent condition from the first productions of the game. This variant was produced only for a few months at the end of 1987, before being replaced by the “Rev-A” versions in 1988. Its starting price was estimated at $ 110,000.

Real video game relics

According to Heritage Auctions, it is unlikely that a copy produced even earlier than this one could appear.

This version called "NES-R" is one of the first cartridges.

Another even older edition exists, the "NES TM", but this one is reserved for games of the very first production, and it is possible that there is only one sealed copy still in existence to this day.

It was therefore for the sum of $ 870,000 that this version of

The Legend of Zelda

was sold, thus becoming the most expensive video game ever sold.

But the record lasted only two days.

Indeed, two days later, a new sale organized by Heritage Auctions offered a copy of

Super Mario 64

and the cartridge reached the price of 1.56 million dollars.
