A handwritten letter from former President Lee Myung-bak, who is imprisoned, to a junior at Korea University was released, saying, "Most of all, it is very unfortunate that this country has become like this."

Today (30th), a post was posted on Gopas, an online community used by students and alumni of Korea University, that a user sent a letter to former President Lee yesterday and received a reply.

The author wrote the contents of the letter he wrote to former President Lee, and took a picture of the reply he received and uploaded it.

The author introduced himself as an ordinary family head who entered Korea University in 2002, graduated from medical school, and worked as a plastic surgeon.

In a letter to former President Lee, he wrote, "Those who have no achievements to show off, like those rich people in the north, make large statues and large memorials and make shameful beautification and distortion." He said, "I want to erase the achievements of my seniors (ex-president Lee), so I'm sorry. We are breaking down the weirs we worked so hard to prevent from the drought,” he wrote.

He continued, "Many people miss the days when you were president," he said. "Sentences such as 'I thought spring was only when the flowers fell' and 'Sir, I miss you' follow like a trend in posts about you."

In response, former President Lee replied, "I think it's all my own fault, but I'm sure the truth will be revealed."

“It takes time to build it up, but we are seeing with our own eyes that it takes a moment to break it down,” he said.
