The artist Beeple and the founder of

Pitchfork

, a daily specializing in music criticism, have just launched a new site dedicated to the sale of “moments of history”.

The principle of Wenew is simple, it sells significant events of Humanity in the form of NFT.

The first series on sale traces the course of tennis player Andy Murray until his victory at Wimbledon in 2013. Fans of the athlete and fans of digital art in the form of NFT will thus be able to afford the speech he held during his victory, but also photos of him dating from 2013, all in the form of digital files in limited edition, an NFT.

“We certainly see this as some kind of immortalization of those moments of human achievement for collectors,” Ryan Schreiber, founder of

Pitchfork

,

told

The Verge.

Suggest something concrete

The lots of the first series will be sold between 49 and 4,999 dollars.

Some lots will be accompanied by physical objects.

Andy Murray fans will be able to get their hands on a poster and cards signed by their favorite tennis player or tickets for the next Wimbledon tournament.

Replica trophy are also planned, but the biggest bonus is still the possibility of playing 30 minutes with the tennis player.

By offering physical “bonuses”, the team behind Wenew is sort of trying to answer a question that many people ask themselves “why buy NFTs, virtual items?

".

With the promise of receiving something material, buyers are likely to be more inclined to move on to NFTs.

In the future, the founders of Wenew wish to offer more lots of diverse and varied historical moments.

The world of sport will not be the only one, there is already talk of offering NFTs of events that have marked musical history.

“A lot of things in the NFT world are like a grab for cash right now, we wanted to put storytelling first,” Michael Figge, co-founder of Wenew, told The Verge.

This is why most of the prizes will be accompanied by an article written by journalists to put the event in context, but also to show why it is important.

If the platform is already online, it will be necessary to wait until July 2 to be able to acquire one of the NFTs associated with Andy Murray's victory at Wimbledon in 2013. It remains to be seen if the buyers will follow.

The madness of the NFT indeed seems to be partly over.
