After connecting leasing companies with customers for two years, Lizy, the digital second-hand leasing subsidiary of D'Ieteren Auto, has decided to become independent.

The startup will now be a real player in its own right in the leasing market since it will itself offer used cars for leasing to professionals and individuals.

A new adventure made possible thanks to a new fundraising campaign.

Lizy has indeed managed to raise 1.5 million euros from the D'Ierteren group, but also concluded a credit line of 5 million euros.

With 6.5 million euros in its pocket, the start-up intends to assert its position on the Belgian market, but also to develop abroad.

“With this envelope, we plan to accelerate the development of our online platform, but also our presence in Belgium.

That is why we are looking to recruit staff.

This will also be essential for our long term goal of becoming the largest digital leasing company in Europe ”, explained Sam Heymans, one of the founders of Lizy.

Nothing is played

A risky bet for the start-up which will have to face many obstacles. Competition is fierce in the leasing market and some players are already occupying good market shares, but thanks to its 100% digital offer, Lizy is certain of being able to find a place for itself. “Our offer is 100% digital. Everything therefore takes place online, whether it is the request for a quote, the choice of the car, the signing of the contract or the ordering of the vehicle. This offers us several advantages over the competition, ”says the co-founder of the start-up. “The first is that we are cheaper since we don't have a store or showroom. So we need fewer people to run the store. In addition, the fact that we rely on used vehicles also allows us to lower the prices of our subscriptions. The second advantage is the speed of the process. After signing a contract with us, your vehicle can be delivered to your home within three weeks against between 6 and 9 months in the case of a new leased car. "

Objective: Europe

Since its creation in 2019, the start-up has managed to sign more than 1,000 leasing contracts.

By freeing herself, Lizy wishes to continue her business on the Belgian market by offering electric vehicles in particular.

“Belgium is pushing companies to opt for electric vehicles.

This is why we are in the process of developing our range of electric cars by offering a suitable formula, ”explains Sam Heymans.

“Our first objective is to stabilize ourselves on the Belgian market, before looking elsewhere.

"

The start-up indeed wants to deploy abroad, but this should not materialize for a while.

“We are studying several markets, in particular that of France, Germany and England, but in order to find a place for ourselves, we will have to adapt our offer to these markets.

The desires of customers are not the same as those of Belgians, so we must review our strategy.

When we're ready, we'll get started ”.
