<Anchor> As the

police investigation proceeds, the situation in which the demolition site was poorly managed is also being revealed one after another.

As a result of the investigation, it was confirmed that the wire attached to the exterior wall to prevent the building from collapsing was broken at the time of the accident.

The supervisor who was responsible for overseeing and monitoring this was not present at the demolition site on the day of the accident.

Reporter Han So-hee covered the story.

<Reporter> An

excavator is demolishing a half-demolished building on a pile of dirt.

There is only a screen on the sidewalk, and no other safety devices are visible.

Up until the day before the collapse, there were several wires pulling the building in the opposite direction to the sidewalk to keep it from tipping over.

However, on the day of the accident, for some reason, the wire was broken, and the police secured a statement from a construction official saying that the demolition work was carried out while leaving it unattended.

[Police official: There were other witnesses, so we confirmed that there was no iron wire on the day of the collapse.]

There was no supervisor at the scene on the day of the accident to supervise whether the demolition work was carried out according to the regulations.

If a supervisor is permanently stationed, you have to pay a fee according to the number of people and time. Most of the demolition sites choose non-resident supervision, which costs less than 1/10 of the cost.

[Roh Jeong-ho / Incumbent architect: If the construction cost standard is 15 million won. Then (for non-resident supervisors), the daily wage is only about 60,000 to 70,000 won. It doesn't make sense to supervise with a low price.] The

situation in which it was not possible to check whether the missing supervision diary was hidden or not written in the first place.

The police plan to call the supervisor again soon to investigate.

We are also examining whether non-resident supervision has properly followed the supervision standards of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport that a supervisor must be present in a dangerous process.
