Former director Yoo Sang-cheol passed away yesterday evening at the age of 50 after battling pancreatic cancer.

Former coach Yoo overcame the ordeal of blindness in one eye as a player, and wore the Taegeuk mark in 124 games for 12 years.

In particular, at the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup, he played a leading role in the semi-finals by directing a miraculous scene.

Former coach Yoo, who started his coaching career after quitting playing in 2006, was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in November after taking up the baton of professional football Incheon in 2019.

Even during the battle, he passionately led the team and saved the team from the crisis of relegation, and gave an impression.

[Yoo Sang-cheol/Former Incheon manager (November 2019): I am not preparing, but miracles do not seem to come. It seems to have brought such good results (victory) because there was a clear determination and desperation (for victory).] With

the promise of "I will definitely come back," I put down the baton and fought the disease.

[The late Yoo Sang-cheol / Former Incheon coach (June 2020): (to others who are fighting the disease) With a good image that we can overcome together and become hope… I will treat you well so that we can see you on the ground again.]

However, as his condition worsened recently, he could not stand up again.

The Korea Football Association announced the death through the official SNS, and with the words "I will forever remember the shouts and glory of that day with you", honored the fighting spirit who has now become a star in the sky.
