Google improves Enhanced Safe Browsing on Chrome.

This Enhanced Safe Browsing system will now warn users if they download an insecure or dangerous extension on their browser, reports

.

The program, created in 2020, improves the security of Internet users on the Web, in particular by spotting malicious sites.

With the new Chrome update, the tool will now offer a new feature against fraudulent extensions.

The browser will display an alert as soon as an unauthorized extension is found.

A tool to block dangerous downloads

To be authorized, an extension must comply with the Chrome Web Store's cybersecurity rules and be validated by the Enhanced Safe Browsing module.

Currently, 75% of available extensions respect these rules.

Another new feature from Google is the addition of additional protections against downloading malicious files from the web.

With each new download, Google Safe Browsing will analyze the document to indicate its level of protection.

Downloads considered dangerous are blocked by default by the program.

It is possible to reverse this decision.

For risky but not dangerous files, users get a warning.

They also have the option of sending the file for analysis.
