While the U.S. government has decided to provide 1 million doses of Janssen's COVID-19 vaccine developed by Johnson & Johnson to our military, this vaccine will be available to reservists 30 years of age or older and members of the Civil Defense.

The COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team announced at a regular briefing today that the Janssen vaccine, which the United States has decided to provide, will be first vaccinated to reservists 30 years of age or older, civil defense personnel, and military-related workers.

Of the 538,000 reservists over the age of 30, 3.04 million civil defense workers, and 137,000 people related to defense and diplomacy, advance reservations are required from the 1st to the 11th of the following month, and inoculations are administered from the 10th to the 20th of the same month in order.

Those who do not receive the vaccination this time will return to the inoculation order in the second half of the year according to the original plan.

The Janssen vaccine, which is scheduled to arrive in Korea this week, is 1,012,800 doses of Janssen vaccine with an expiration date between the end of June and early July.

The Janssen vaccine is completed with only one dose, so 1 million doses is almost double the '550,000 doses' that the United States originally planned to provide in terms of the number of people vaccinated.

The promotion team explained that they will seek emergency use approval so that this Janssen vaccine can be used for vaccination immediately after its introduction in Korea, and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety will conduct its own quality inspection considering that it is the first Janssen vaccine to be introduced in Korea.
