The Toulouse GIGN is on site and the Satory (Yvelines) GIGN is on the way, the gendarmerie told AFP at 8:30 am.

"There was a family dispute last night with a man who is armed, when the gendarmerie came he opened fire. We are in the process of identifying this person who is therefore armed", declared the prefect of Dordogne on France Bleu Périgord, shortly after 7 am, asking "the population to stay at home locked up, not to move".

"A security perimeter has been set up. Everyone must stay at home while waiting for the operation to be completed," he added.

Former soldier, known for domestic violence

According to information from Europe 1, the ex-partner of a young woman came to her home around midnight on the night of Saturday to Sunday, where he violated the latter's new boyfriend.

The victim, who fled, was then shot at.

The suspect who was walking through the streets of the village said he wanted to attack the gendarmes.

He shot in their direction and seriously damaged two gendarmerie vehicles.

His ex-partner and his children, unharmed, were recovered by the gendarmerie and placed in safety.

The suspect is a former soldier known for domestic violence.
