A police officer in the 50s of Jeonnam, who received the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine and showed signs of side effects, died 16 days after vaccination.

According to Gwangju City and the Jeonnam Police Agency, Inspector A of the Jeonnam Police Agency died yesterday (16th) while undergoing treatment at a university hospital in Gwangju.

Inspector A suffered from symptoms such as nausea, headache, and chills immediately after the first dose of AZ on the 30th of last month.

He took Tylenol every 6 hours as recommended by the medical staff and his symptoms improved, but it is known that symptoms such as numbness in the legs and chest pain appeared again.

Inspector A collapsed on the night of the 12th of last month and was transferred to a hospital in Gwangju while undergoing CPR, and then transferred to a university hospital.

Inspector A had a blood clot and received a stent procedure to artificially widen the narrowed blood vessel.

Immediately after the procedure, his cardiac arrest symptoms improved, but he died yesterday afternoon without fully recovering his heart function.

Inspector A was in good health, and it is known that he did not have any other underlying diseases even at a health check-up earlier this year.

The quarantine authorities are investigating whether Captain A's death is related to vaccination.
