Invited on Saturday from Europe 1, General Ghislain Réty, commander of the GIGN, returned to the hunt and surrender of Valentin Marcone, the alleged perpetrator of the double murder in the Cévennes.

"He was really exhausted, exhausted," he says.

After more than three days of stalking, Valentin Marcone ended up putting an end to his flight.

The alleged perpetrator of the double murder which occurred at the beginning of the week, in Plantiers, in the Gard, surrendered on Friday before being taken into custody for assassinations.

More than 350 gendarmes helped by helicopters, drones and dogs had been looking for him since the tragedy.

Invited on Saturday from Europe 1, General Ghislain Réty, commander of the GIGN, describes a man "exhausted" at the time of his surrender.

"He was really at the end of the line," he says.
