The court sentenced a probation to imprisonment for a stepfather who choked a 4-year-old child for having toileted outside the toilet.
Judge Park Jin-young, the Chuncheon District Law Criminal 2nd exclusive judge, said that 26-year-old A, who was accused of child abuse under the Child Welfare Act, was sentenced to one year in prison and two years probation.
In addition, the 26-year-old mother B, who reported that Mr. A's crime was not restrained, and beat the victim's calf once, was sentenced to six months in prison and two years probation.
In September of last year, Mr. A was accused of physical abuse by strangling the victim for having toileted outside the toilet.
Even after seeing this behavior, Mr. B was handed over to trial on charges of not restraining Mr. A.
The two claimed that they only kicked the child, and that they did not choke or witnessed the crime, but the court convicted him based on the scars and statements found on the victim's body.
Judge Park said, "The crime is not light, and the defendants have already received child protection measures." I took into consideration the things I made efforts for,” he said.
