Whatsapp is currently testing a new feature regarding ephemeral messages.

The instant messaging app plans to allow deletion of these messages after 24 hours.

Until now, the user could set the retention period for messages, which could be kept for a maximum of seven days.

The developers are testing the possibility of keeping them for a maximum of one day, reveals WaBetaInfo relayed by 01net.

Ephemeral photos?

If the option is approved and kept, each user will be able to choose whether or not to enable the deletion of ephemeral messages.

He will then have the choice of keeping them 24 hours, a week, or indefinitely.

The functionality is currently being tested in the latest beta version of the app.

WhatsApp had already unveiled another new feature a few days ago, also under development.

It concerns the sending of photos and videos which destroy themselves automatically after a few seconds.

An option that looks like the one offered for several years by the Snapchat application.
