There is a beautiful rocking bridge in the lake Topjeong Lake in Nonsan, Chungcheongnam-do.

Not long ago, the city of Nonsan asked for a name on this sloping bridge and made a contest with a prize money.

Reporter Jeong Ban-seok covered the story.

It is the longest rocking bridge in Korea with a length of 600m, built on Topjeong Lake in Nonsan, Chungcheongnam-do.

The city of Nonsan held a public offering for the official name of the bridge from the 17th to the 20th of last month.

With more than 5,000 citizens participating, the winning work was announced three days ago.

'Nonsan Topjeong Lake's floating bridge' is the gold prize, and'Tapjeongho's floating bridge' is the bronze statue.

It is the same name as it is now called the Pagoda Jungho Rocking Bridge.

What's even more embarrassing is the way the winners are chosen.

In the case of multiple winners, the first-come-first-served basis will receive the award.

The application was received from 9 am on the first day of the competition, and the person who received the gold award in 43 seconds and the bronze award in just 2 seconds won the award.

Those who added Nonsan only to the original name, or wrote the original name as it was, and received the earliest amount of money, won 2 million won and 500,000 won.

On the bulletin board of Nonsan City Hall, protests such as saying that children who conspired and named a new name were ashamed of conspiring were flooded.

It is explained that Nonsan City was selected by external judges.

[Nonsan City Hall Officer: (Other than the Tapjeongho floating bridge) I thought about whether there is a better name, so I started a competition. It is difficult to intervene because of fairness because the decision was made by a judging committee composed of outsiders... .]

However, it was confirmed that the deputy mayor of Nonsan City, who made the final decision, was the deputy mayor of the city, and the directors were on duty.

[Kum Hyeon-seop/Seoul National University Graduate School of Public Administration Professor: I chose outward rather than internally. It was selected through participation, then it is usually given justification, right? I think

this

is a bit of a convenient behavior that is biased toward formal legitimacy.]

This is not the first time this absurd competition.

The Seoul Nowon-gu Office recently contested the name of the Gyeongchun Line Forest Road Gallery and selected the original name as the winning work, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport also selected'Yongsan Park' as the winning work in the Seoul Yongsan Park Name Competition.
