It is a scale threatening 800 people for two consecutive days.
Among the new confirmed cases, 760 are domestic infection cases, excluding 25 foreign patients.
509 people were infected in the metropolitan areas such as Seoul and Gyeonggi, and 251 people were also infected in the non-capital areas. In particular, around 50 confirmed cases occurred in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam, where the spread of the non-metropolitan areas has not been severe.
The number of confirmed cases in the metropolitan area and these regions account for more than 86% of the total.
More than 50 confirmed patients, including users and workers, were found at an elderly protection center in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do, and 5 more were confirmed at a karaoke room in Songpa-gu, Seoul, where a group infection occurred, and a total of 11 people, including employees and users, have been infected.
As the infection persists sporadically throughout everyday life, not limited to specific places, the government is expanding preemptive inspections and strengthening quarantine inspections under the responsibility of the minister.
The health authorities explained that the situation is different from the third epidemic in which the number of severely ill patients has rapidly increased, while keeping an eye on the recent spread.
