A woman in her 40s who sent over 100 text messages and KakaoTalk messages for gossiping herself was fined 1 million won.

Chuncheon District Court 2nd Criminal Division announced today (24th) that the 42-year-old A, who was accused of violating the Information and Communication Network Act, was sentenced to a fine of 1 million won after breaking the first trial of fined 2 million won.

In 2019, Mr. B was accused of sending fear-inducing text messages and 48 KakaoTalk messages over a period of over a week because Mr. B had gossiped about him.

Mr. A, who was indicted briefly at the beginning, requested a formal trial stating that he had only quarreled with Mr. B, not creating fear, but eventually both the first and second trials were convicted.

The court did not accept Mr. A's claim, saying that the prosecution's prosecution only culled in a message that aroused fear, and actually sent 126 text messages and 209 KakaoTalk times.

However, the court explained that the amount of the fine was lowered taking into account the fact that he was angry or started contacting him because of the insulting remarks.
