A man in his 50s was caught by the police, who collected pictures of a woman secretly photographing a woman traveling in and out of the subway in a photo album on his mobile phone.

The Seoul Nowon Police Department announced today (23) that it is investigating a 51-year-old man, Kim Mo, on charges of violating the Act on Special Cases concerning the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (using cameras, etc.).

Kim was caught secretly filming a woman sitting in a chair at Junggye Station on Subway Line 7 in Junggye-dong, Nowon-gu, Seoul at about 4 pm on the 20th, and was caught by a citizen's report.

In Kim's mobile phone photo album, more than 800 photos were found, including the back of a woman using a ticket vending machine.

However, the police are in a position that most of the photos found were taken from a distance rather than a specific body part, so they would be cautious in applying the charges.

A police official said, "There is ambiguity as to whether the photos found cause sexual desire or shame, so we are reviewing the law."

According to the Sexual Violence Penalty Act, charges for shooting using a camera, etc., are applied only when the body of a person causing sexual desire or shame with a camera is photographed without consent.

After receiving a complaint that “there are people who secretly photograph the body of a passing woman,” a history staff member reported to the police while talking with Kim.

While denying the crime, Kim confessed when he investigated the spilled photos from his cell phone photo album.

In addition, in Mr. Kim's wallet, ID cards and credit cards of several other people were also found.

By stating that Mr. Kim was "picked up on the road," the police first charged for embezzlement of belongings and found out specific crimes.
