A 46-year-old woman, discovered in a Lille apartment late Wednesday afternoon, "died following a stab wound in the neck", according to the prosecution.

Her husband, who was there, was taken into police custody.

This 46-year-old woman, discovered in an apartment in Lille at the end of the afternoon on Wednesday, "died following a stab wound in the neck", explained the public prosecutor in Lille, Carole Etienne.

"On the spot was her husband who was taken into custody. It was the latter who called for help," she added.

According to a source close to the emergency services, the person who opened the door for them warned that they had "quarreled".

In 2020, 90 women were killed by their spouse or ex-spouse in France, against 146 in 2019, according to the government count.
