In October 1998, a college student, Jeong Mo, was found dead on a highway in Daegu.

The police concluded that the car accident was killed by a truck.

However, after relentless demands from the family who discovered the suspected clues of sexual assault, a noodle test was conducted, and the DNA of a man was found in Jung's undergarment, who died.

It was 13 years later that a suspect matching that DNA was caught.

The prosecutor who captured Mr. K, who was Sri Lankan, sought life imprisonment after 15 years, but Mr. K was found acquitted for the ending of the statute of prosecution and left for Sri Lanka.

In response, the bereaved family filed a lawsuit asking for the responsibility of the state, and the court raised the hand of the bereaved family.

It was clear that the family had suffered mental pain for a long time due to the poor initial investigation, and decided to pay 20 million won each to parents and 5 million won each to siblings.

The compensation amount plus delayed damages is about 130 million won.

[Park Hye-rim/Seoul Central District Court Civil Public Affairs Judge: Judging from a simple traffic accident, this is a ruling that acknowledged the responsibility of the state for compensation for the poor initial investigation.] After

23 years, the state's responsibility was recognized, but the grief of the family has changed. There is not.

[Jeong Hyeon-jo / Victim's father: (Daughter) I want to see you. What is that... Ok… Oh, I can't even say it.] The

court just did not accept the family's claim for the income that Mr. Jeong could have earned if he was alive.
