The burden that the
coronavirus
pandemic
is placing on health workers is a reality that no one can deny.
However, they are rarely aware of what the
coronavirus
is really doing
for them.
Víctor Aparicio
, a "nurse", as he prefers to be described by his profession, from the UCI, has made visible the physical consequences that the year of the
pandemic
has entailed
.
Through two photos published on his Twitter account, Aparicio has shown the imprint of the
coronavirus
in his appearance.
"I am a nurse at the ICU. One year they separate these two images. I think the exterior change is evident. You cannot imagine the interior," picks up the tweet that accompanies the two images.
In the first, in the one a years ago,
Aparicio
is seen
practically without gray hair and without wrinkles on his face.
In the current one, the physical change of this "nurse" is surprising: gray hair and beards, more wrinkles on his face ...
The first image corresponds, as he himself explains in another tweet, to an interview that he was conducted a year ago in
El Programa de AR
.
"
It seems like decades have passed
. I remember it very well. Today I woke up with nightmares," he says.
And he continues: "How could we forget so soon and normalize what should never have been normal. It's only been a year.
From heroes to villains
. Chest hurts. A lot."
In his last tweet about the image, which has already gone viral,
Aparicio
assures that a year after appearing on television talking about the "so precarious situation of the toilets", this "nurse" is "gray-haired and investigated by my hospital "of which he does not give the name.
"What a huge sadness, what frustration, that will go ... I can't understand it," he concludes.
The tweet with the two images has received dozens of comments among those who are also health workers like him who describe very similar situations: "The change is brutal! My good friend ... a lot of strength !! Here another one who is with
vitamins for hair
, food control due to anxiety and not gaining more weight etc ... the change we have had ... ".
As well as countless shows of support.
"Good courage, Victor. These are difficult times, of course. At least you can go to sleep peacefully, with the awareness that you are helping people who need it," a doctor wrote him.
"Thank you very much for your work !! For fighting and not decaying, leaving you body and soul, so that others continue living !! I know that words do not solve the situation you are going through, in case it comforts you a little here goes my most sincere thanks! ", another tweeter points out.
The number of health professionals with positive for
coronavirus
amounts to 118,063 until January 28 and 63 deaths until June 5, according to information provided by the Ministry of Health.
