Supreme Prosecutors' Office held a national prosecutors' meeting to eradicate real estate speculation crimes at 10 am today.

The meeting held under the presidency of Prosecutor General Cho Nam-gwan was attended by 18 prosecutors' office heads nationwide and five heads of branch offices who have jurisdiction over the 3rd new town.

Acting President Nam-gwan Cho first emphasized that real estate speculation crimes consist of a structure that combines public information and private speculators, and that the link of corruption should be broken.

However, it is also clear that there are practical difficulties due to the limitation of direct investigation.

He explained that the prosecution's re-analysis of the real estate case for the past five years was not a measure with investigation and punishment in mind, but rather to understand the reality of the speculative forces behind the record.

As it is highly likely that the speculative forces in the past participated in new development projects, we would like to seek out speculative forces such as planned real estate after confirming their existence.

At the meeting, it is known that not only the current status of countermeasures to eradicate speculation and the formation of a dedicated investigation team was reviewed, but also discussions were held on cases in which a close relationship between speculators and public officials was discovered in the second new town investigation in the past.

Justice Minister Park Beom-gye ordered the prosecution to take a fortune in the given circumstances and eradicate real estate abuse, rather than criticizing the limits of the investigation.
