As a result of the confirmation by the policeman who arrived at the scene, the driver was revealed as a movie star, Park Joong-hoon.
After drinking alcohol with an acquaintance, Park asked the driver to drive the car to the entrance to the apartment where the acquaintance lives. That’s it.
At the time, Mr. Park's blood alcohol concentration was 0.176%, which was more than twice as high as 0.08%, the standard for license cancellation.
In 2004, Mr. Park had been drinking and driving in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and his license was revoked.
Park Joong-hoon also admitted to drunk driving.
The entertainment agency to which Mr. Park belongs is "deeply aware of the responsibility for the occurrence of such an incident," and said, "I am also deeply reflecting on it."
Police are investigating whether there is a connection between Park and the traffic accident that occurred in the apartment's underground parking lot just before Park was caught.
