Microsoft reportedly set to buy Discord for 10 billion -

A few days ago, VentureBeat revealed that Discord was about to be sold, information which was quickly confirmed by Bloomberg.
And the potential instant messaging software buyer would not be just anyone.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft would indeed have put $ 10 billion on the table to get their hands on Discord.
Negotiations between the two entities are moreover already being finalized.
The Discord platform, available on PC and smartphone, saw its number of users exploded during confinement, like other online chat applications such as Zoom or Team.
Very popular with gamers - but not only - Discord allows you to create discussion groups - "servers" - in which participants can create different rooms and categories of conversations.
Users can communicate in writing as well as orally with a microphone and can also initiate video calls.
And best of all, the app is completely free and secure.
Features and arguments that have convinced more than 140 million users who connect to the platform each time.

And it is precisely these 140 million monthly users that would have attracted Microsoft.
After the failure and shutdown of Mixer, the Redmond firm is reportedly looking for a new way to get closer to consumers outside of its products.
This is also why Microsoft had volunteered to buy TikTok.
The purchase of Discord could be recorded as early as April, if all goes well.
While talks with Microsoft are on the right track, the startup behind Discord is reportedly still reluctant to go public on its own.
