Samsung might not offer an upgrade to the Galaxy Note this year.

At a conference for shareholders, the man at the head of Samsung's mobile division, Koh Dong-Jin, has indeed hinted that a new Galaxy Note will certainly not see the light of day in 2021.

There are many reasons for this.

The first explanation comes from the fact that the border between the S and Note range is narrowing from year to year and that the latest ultra high-end model, the Galaxy S21 Ultra, can replace the Galaxy Note 21.

“The Note series is positioned as a top-of-the-range model in our business portfolio.

It could be a burden to showcase two flagships in a year, so it might be difficult to release the Note model this year.

The launch date of the next Note may change, but a priori we will release a Note model next year, ”said Koh Dong-Jin.

Supply problems

The global chip shortage would also have weighed in the balance, pushing Samsung to favor the S range already on the market rather than offering a new Galaxy Note and risk not being able to meet demand.

“The disparity between parts supply and demand on the information technology (IT) side is serious […] We check the parts supply issue every morning,” said the CEO of Samsung.

However, the Korean manufacturer would not give up on its top-of-the-range model, intended above all for professionals, contrary to what the rumor had suggested for a few months.

Fans of this range will therefore have to wait until 2022 to upgrade.
