A European alternative to Instagram is coming -

A new photo sharing application has just been launched in Europe.

This is Album, an app at the crossroads of Instagram and photos that allows you to share your photos and videos with relatives - family and friends - while preserving their privacy.

Made in France, Album is the brainchild of Taïg Khris, three-time rollerblading world champion.

“Album responds to this desire to create the benchmark application to share our photos and videos, while protecting our personal data,” he explains.

The app integrates end-to-end encryption tools that allow it to ensure the confidentiality of photos and videos shared on its platform.

Its founder obviously makes privacy the main asset of his app, but "we want to be sure that the security of our app is not just a marketing argument, but corresponds well to the requirements of expert security organizations", indicates he in a press release.

This is why the start-up has indicated that it has requested approval from ANSSI, the National Information Systems Security Agency.

A focus on safety

With Album, the athlete wants to find a place alongside Instagram, Facebook and other American social networks, while favoring an approach that is more respectful of the privacy of users.

An argument that could hit the nail on the head at a time when Internet users are increasingly sensitive to the issue of confidentiality.

Beyond this aspect, Album offers several interesting features, in particular the possibility of sharing albums with relatives via a QR code or a link, to offer privileged access to some so that they enrich the albums, to create hidden albums or to secure them with a secret code.

But the application is not just a storage space for photos and videos since users can like and comment on the photos of their loved ones, in the same way as on Instagram.

Note that screenshots will be blocked, a feature in line with the spirit of Album.

Offered on iOS and Android, Album is currently only available in beta.

You will have to wait a few more weeks or even several months to make the most of all the features that the app will have to offer.
