An extension to recover the old version of Facebook -

Facebook has just passed a symbolic milestone in France, that of 40 million monthly active users.

An important milestone that may surprise since the social network still had 39 million users last December.

In just three months, Facebook has therefore attracted a million additional French Internet users, despite the fact that a large part of the population has turned away from it.

The young generation favors other social platforms, in particular TikTok, a real phenomenon among young people, Instagram - a subsidiary of Facebook - and Snapchat.

Four years ago, 93% of young people (17-27 years old) used Facebook, compared to only 54% in 2020, including only 28% for 16-18 year olds, according to figures from Diplomeo.

But if young people shun Mark Zuckerberg's social network, it continues to appeal to older Internet users.

The age of the platform certainly has something to do with it.

Facebook is indeed one of the oldest social networks, it is still a benchmark today - despite the various controversies in which it has been involved over the years - and retains its place as the world's leading social network.

Each month, 2.8 billion people connect to the platform, including 1.85 billion every day, compared to 2.5 billion at the end of 2019.

Facebook, the ally of containment

The health crisis that the world population has been facing for a year has certainly contributed to the increase in the number of users of the platform, especially in France.

At the end of 2019, Facebook had 37 million active French users per month.

During the year 2020, the social network has therefore attracted two million additional French Internet users.

The various initiatives launched on the platform to deal with containment have no doubt attracted new Internet users.

The 1,400 Facebook Live # together at home have thus been viewed more than 296 million times.

Despite the disinterest of young people, the social network seems to still have a bright future ahead of it.

The situation could change, however, when the situation returns to normal, after the coronavirus.
