Less than a week after the death of Alisha, 14, found beaten and then drowned in the Seine, the couple suspected of having ambushed her were imprisoned for murder.

"Isolated", "little appreciated", the portrait of the suspects gradually emerges, in particular that of the young man of 15, accused of being the author of the beatings.

REPORT

First night in detention for the two schoolchildren, accused of the murder of their classmate Alisha.

The 14-year-old was said to have been brutally beaten and then thrown into the Seine, before her body was discovered on Monday.

The dramatic outcome of an ambush that would have been set by the teenage couple: a 15-year-old girl and a young man of the same age.

The latter would be the author of the blows.

Europe 1 went to Argenteuil, in Val-d'Oise, to understand the profile of these adolescents, a few days after the tragedy.

An isolated couple in high school

"The two of them annoyed everyone. They were actually turning everyone back."

A close couple, accomplice, but above all very isolated and "friendless", summarizes Leslie, a student at Cognacq Jay high school, where the three teenagers, the alleged aggressors and the victim, were educated.

To believe that they were looking for the problems, she adds.

Rumors and insults were customary, and not just around Alisha, the victim.

Teenage girl drowned in Argenteuil: where is the investigation?

"I got confused once with him: he annoyed too much the girls and the people of his class", assures Leslie, at the microphone of Europe 1. "I got confused also with the girl".

Before adding: "In fact, they did not hang out with anyone: they were both always and in their corner. They were not appreciated".

It is within the school that relations between Alisha and the couple had recently deteriorated.

Things had escalated to the point that their vocational school had temporarily excluded the two suspects for the victim's harassment.

The 14-year-old had seen her phone hacked and photos of her in her underwear posted on Snapchat.

The two indicted were to pass a disciplinary council on Tuesday, the day after the tragedy.

A "frail" adolescent, "always alone"

But the young man was already attending high school in dotted lines.

A "dropout" who spent his days in front of his computer or in the courtyard of his building.

"When I came home in the afternoon or evening, I would always see him there, sitting on the wall," says Jacky, his neighbor for 10 years.

"I never see him with friends, never in a group. Always on his own, not comfortable with himself. Rather a little withdrawn."

Teenage girl drowned in Argenteuil: the chilling testimony of the mother of one of the suspects

The 15-year-old had lived with his mother, supported by a social worker since his father's death.

An ordeal, recalls Oscar, who sometimes saw him on the stairs.

"He was walking, looking down. He was frail. We don't think about that," he says.

It is indeed difficult to think that this small template, barely 1m60, with a childish face, could nevertheless be capable of the worst.

In police custody, the two teenagers "did not express any immediate remorse either," said the prosecutor.

They were imprisoned in the juvenile quarters of two penitentiary establishments, the prosecution told AFP.

They face up to twenty years in prison.
